New Zealand cricket star Mitchell McClenaghan was left with a fractured eye socket after taking a blow to the face against Pakistan.
He was grounded by a bouncer after attempting a hook shot during the first one-day match on Monday.
Pakistan players and New Zealand's medical staff rushed to the aid of McClenaghan, who was later taken to hospital.
The impact of the ball, which was registered at 113 kilometres an hour, was so hard it broke part of the helmet allowing it behind the grille.
McClenaghan was helped from the pitch before receiving stitches to a nasty gash above his eye.
