Manhunt for "dangerous" man after woman aged 28 is found dead in hotel

Police want to trace fugitive 44-year-old after the body of Nadine Aburas, 28, was discovered in Cardiff on New Year's Eve

An international manhunt for a "dangerous man" is under way after a 28-year-old woman was found dead at a hotel in Cardiff Bay.

The body of Cardiff resident Nadine Aburas was discovered by staff at the Future Inn Hotel on Hemmingway Road at about midday on New Year's Eve.

South Wales Police suspect she was murdered and want to trace US national Sammy Almahri, 44, from New York.

He is now thought to be in Tanzania.

Ms Aburas's body was found nine hours later.

Police say he then took a flight from Heathrow to Bahrain later that day at 10.30am and suspect he may now be in east Africa.

Det Supt Paul Hurley said a team of officers was trying to trace Mr Almahri.

"We have been working closely with our counterparts in both NYPD and police officers in Tanzania," he said.

"From our enquiries we have discovered that Almahri is very resourceful and has access to funds, which may further assist his evasion from law enforcement agencies.

"I consider this man to be a dangerous individual and would advise that any knowledge of his location or sightings of him are reported immediately to the authorities - and he is not to be approached."
