'Fake doctor drugged and raped 100 women after tricking them into sleep study'

Police officers stand in front of Tokyo Metropolitan police department after Katsuya Takahashi, the last remaining fugitive of the Aum Shinrikyo, was escorted by police officers to the building in Tokyo June 15, 2012.
Investigation: Police fear that the alleged rapist may have attacked more than 100 women
A man has been arrested on suspicion of drugging and raping more than 100 women who had agreed to take part in a ‘sleep study’ he was conducting.
Hideyuki Noguchi pretended to be a doctor and placed adverts asking for women to take part in a medical study he was running looking at blood pressure during sleep.
According to reports, Noguchi, 54, lured the women to health spas and hotels across Japan.
He is alleged to have then given the women drugs to fall asleep and then filmed himself attacking them.
According to police, Noguchi, who is not thought to have had any medical training, then either uploaded the footage to the internet or sold it to porn producers.
Police chiefs in Chiba, east of Tokyo, said he pocketed 10 million yen (£56,500) from flogging the movies.
A spokesman for police said officers had confirmed at least 39 victims in Tokyo, Chiba, Osaka, Tochigi and Shizuoka.
Media reports in Japan say that police believe this is just a fraction of the total number of women attacked - which could be over 100.
