Sturridge likely to miss Euros through injury

Daniel Sturridge is in serious danger of missing the European Championship .

The Liverpool star missed England training on Wednesday after complaining of a calf problem, and is out of Friday’s friendly against Australia in Sunderland.

These latest injury woes make striker Sturridge a major doubt for inclusion in the squad which will travel to the finals in France next month.

The 26-year-old has played just 58 minutes of international football since September 2014 and Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson is seriously worried about the player’s physical and mental state.

Continuing doubts about Sturridge's fitness could open the door for Manchester United teenager Marcus Rashford to make his senior England debut and gatecrash Hodgson’s final 23-man squad.

Hodgson will chop three players over the weekend from the 26 he named at the end of the Premier League season.
