Sex Game gone horribly bad as wife dies during sex
A Brit accused of killing his wife in Majorca is claiming his wife died during a sex game that went horribly wrong.
Car salesman Warren Lyttle says mum-of-one Lisa Jane, 49, choked to death during a sado-masochistic role-play she proposed.
The 50-year-old expat made the shocking claim during a private court quiz yesterday evening, a day after allegedly confessing to killing his wife during a phone call to emergency services from their sixth-floor flat near Magaluf.
Police have confirmed Lisa Jane, who flew to Majorca on Thursday from her home in Kilburn, north west London for a week’s holiday, was strangled with a mobile phone charger cord.
Judge Jose Luis Castro remanded Lyttle in custody on suspicion of his wife’s homicide after studying police reports.
The judicial investigation will continue while the Brit is held in a prison near the island capital Palma.
Unconfirmed local reports said Scotland Yard had told Civil Guard investigators Lyttle had been arrested several times in the UK on suspicion of domestic violence and had spent time in jail.
It was not immediately clear if he had been held on remand or imprisoned following a court conviction.
Lisa Jane’s family are also said to have told Spanish police Lyttle, who had lived in Majorca for around a decade, had a turbulent relationship with his wife who spent most of her time in Britain.
Police say they have evidence contradicting Lyttle’s claims and pointing to Lisa Jane being strangled during a row over money.
A well-placed source confirmed: “Warren Lyttle told the judge his wife died during a sex game.
“He also claimed she had proposed the role-play he says led to her death.
“He confirmed in court he had confessed to killing her in the phone call he made on Saturday morning to the emergency services, but told the judge it was an accident and things just got out of hand.”
Lisa Jane, whose 18-year-old daughter lives in London, also worked in the city and had a return flight booked for Wednesday.
Police and paramedics rushed to the apartment in Costa de la Calma in the municipality of Calvia at 3.20am on Saturday after the call from her husband.
Efforts to revive her proved unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem on Saturday revealed she had died from asphyxia due to strangulation.
Her husband was taken to a criminal court in Palma, Majorca in handcuffs yesterday evening for a two-hour hearing behind-closed-doors after being held overnight in a nearby police station.
He refused food and water for 37 hours before arriving at court.
It was not immediately clear yesterday morning if he had drunk or eaten anything before the hearing.
Tests have showed he had been drinking before his wife’s death, but police told court officials the amount of alcohol in his blood was not excessively high.
A minute’s silence for Lisa Jane was due to be held at midday today outside the headquarters of the Balearic Islands Government in Palma.
A second protest gathering organised by a local women’s lobby group - following on from one on Saturday afternoon to condemn her killing - was also expected to take place in the evening.
Lyttle has yet to be formally charged as is customary in Spain where charges are laid shortly before trial .
Local authorities have confirmed there was no history of domestic violence incidents between the couple in Majorca.
In a statement released before Saturday’s protest gathering to condemn the killing which included a five-minute silence, Calvia Town Hall said: “The entire corporation is united in condemning this act of violence and in sharing the pain and grief of Lisa Jane’s children, relatives and friends.”
“The crime was reported by the author himself in a phone call to the emergency services.
“Local police were the first to respond and tried to revive Lisa Jane but without success. Paramedics could nothing to save her either.”
A spokesman for the Guardia Civil, which arrested Mr Lyttle, confirmed at the weekend: “A British man who is resident in Majorca phoned the emergency services around 3.20am on Saturday and confessed during the call to killing his wife.
“The victim was strangled with a telephone cord during a row.”
Lyttle’s mum Joan, speaking on Saturday from her home in Neasden, north west London said: “We don’t know how this could have possibly happened.
“It has left us in total shock. We’re still waiting to talk to Warren to find out what went on.
“There were no problems in the marriage as far as we knew. They were happy.”
Neighbours said they didn’t know the couple and had only realised something was wrong when the police arrived.
One living on the same floor at the block - called the Apartamentos Siesta - admitted: “I didn’t see anything strange.
“I only realised something had happened once the police arrived.
“I saw the police officers and then a man they had laid on the floor in the corridor.
