Niger State Police Command has arrested a gang for robbing houses disguised as Muslim women.
It was gathered that one of the tactics employed by the gang was for one of its gang members to wear a hijab so as to surveil any house which they intended to rob.
This surveillance was done to know when the occupants would leave home and come home before carrying out their mission.
Armed with this information, the gang would send the gang member dressed in hijab to the residence.
The "hijabbed woman" would force the door open for other members of the gang, giving them access to the victim's house after which they would remove all movable property in the house.
Luck ran out of the gang as they were arrested last week after members of the gang entered a house in the Dutsen Kura area of the state capital.
It was gathered that a policeman, that was attached to one of the places of worship close to the house that the suspects broke into, observed the unusual movement of an "hijabbed woman around the premises and later saw the accomplices coming around for their operation.
That was how they were rounded.
Some items were however recovered from the gang. Amongst the household goods recovered from the suspects were pedestal fans, electric cookers, stoves, washing machines and electric irons.
