Confusion trails choice of 'PANDA' as NASELS FYB name

As expected, these folks would argue about everything and anything. Students of the final year batch of National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies NASELS, OAU chapter have come into disagreement about the choice of name to be given to the graduating set.
As a tradition, a committee was put in place to organise the FYB celebration. These members in the committee were selected by the general class populace. A name is always accredited to a graduating set. The committee came together to chose the name PANDA.

Yeah, Desiigner's Panda so I thought. Cool name to describe the factioned class. It was however not taken lightly by SOME students.

The committee then took pains to explain the concept. In their words;

*From the FYB Committee:*

As nominated representatives of the Nasels Part Four FYB committee, the mandate has been given, of individually estimating the class as a whole and therefore, collectively making certain decisions that are to be planned and executed with the highest consideration of the CLASS.
We appreciate wholeheartedly, this distinguished honour bestowed.
However, we very much want you the Class, our Boss, to understand how tricky it can be, having to satisfy varying exciting appetites.
Nevertheless, we only seek to satisfy you, even when you don't immediately grasp our intentions.
After series of deliberation, we came about with the Graduating Set name as d'PANDA. " d' " meaning "The", while "PANDA" means a living entity (a name, yes popular with an animal).
The name "d'PANDA" was decided upon, after (like you'd expect us to do) evaluating seriously, OUR class.
The PANDA bear exemplifies a living entity made up of opposing colours(black and white), one whose skin is an obvious contradiction but still displays unity in beauty. It also exacts immeasurable strength being a strong and colossal animal. But above all, is humble.
Which is why the "d" has being put in lower case signifying our humility and the "PANDA" in upper case signifying our great number, the "Two Colours" our different views.
Existent in our class are the subliminal and sometimes superliminal tensions, were we encounter (not good or bad) but OPPOSING factions with OPPOSING ideologies, yet still with the idea of onwardness.
So just like the entity(Panda Bear) depicts, we, your representatives have crafted this name d'PANDA, envisioning our Class as a living entity with its infinite differences and individualism.
Since we desire to project UNITY in our DIVISION, why not emulate a LIVING entity that is obviously made of variations but is still unified, strong and beautiful?

We very much hope you key, into this rich projection that we've created for ourselves and look beyond circumstantial frivolities, for we are only existing to please you the CLASS.......

Even with this, class members were torn between supporting and opposing the name.
